Memorandum________________________ Date: 1/5/07 Re: Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Florida forestry Division, for the hurricane relief funding our golf course has received. Because of the Grant funding, Stoneybrook CDD was able to replace two hundred and eighty trees ravaged by hurricanes Charlie and Wilma. These trees were planted along holes #11, #12 and hole #2. Stoneybrook CDD planted 80 Slash Pines, 60 Red Maples and 140 Bald Cypress. These tree species thrive in the wet low areas that we have planted them in. On January 5, 2007 a representative from the Forestry division came to Stoneybrook to certify plant counts and proper installation. Every tree was inspected and approved by Florida state Forestry standards. Please be advised that all of the Red Maples and Bald Cypress trees planted loose their leaves during the winter months. As spring arrives so will a more typical tree appearance. Again, on behalf of the Stoneybrook CDD and S & S Golf Management, thank you to the Florida State Forestry Division for funding this plant replacement venture. This will provide the homeowners along the impacted area with some native preserve views, wildlife habitat as well as re-implementing the original golf course hole designs.
Thank you,
